Going out for brunch is something that is becoming ever more popular and we can certainly see why! From fluffy pancakes to avocado on sourdough bread with hummus and chilli flakes, the choice is endless and we at The Southampton Guide, are going to go as far to say that The Rogues Cafe is up there as one of the best places to stop by for a brunch date!
The cafe is based in Guildhall Square – almost directly opposite the O2 Guildhall, it is just a short walk from the train station and centre of town. It has such a welcoming feel from the outside with a few brightly coloured chairs and tables outside for some alfresco dining (should the british weather permit!) It has huge bay doors that can be opened (whatever the weather!) to allow you to watch the world go by.
Inside there is a homely feel – with comfy sofas and chairs and quirky wall art everywhere you look – it is like being in a super-cool living room! There are two floors to the venue, with the upstairs being more open and the downstairs being the main dining area that oozed intimacy and coziness. Plus, you’ll also be able to meet an adorable German Shepard called Percy who is a resident at the cafe.
There is such a lovely selection on the food menu – it sure is hard to choose just one option! The brunch menu offers everything you could want, from pancakes, french toast, eggs how you like and even avocado on sourdough bread with hummus and chilli flakes. The pancakes are a must try when you visit (although not for the faint hearted!) – there are around 4-5 fluffy pancakes stacked on top of one another oozing in maple syrup topped with rashers of bacon. *sorry if you are reading this hungry!*
They also cater for lunches too, with dishes such as burgers, pies, hot sandwiches and salads – oh and cakes, there are delicious cakes.
If The Southampton Guide can recommend one place to head to this summer it is 100% The Rogues Cafe! A lovely place with incredible food and atmosphere – let’s hope for sunshine so that the outside dining area can be used for cocktails and dining!
