A rainy afternoon in Southampton and what is there to do? Indulge in some pure delicious comfort food to warm the heart and soul.
And where to go? Shrimp and Burger Southampton in Bedford Place.
Stepping in from the rain into a rustic-shabby-shack venue which is full of bright yellow and turquoise furniture, instantly lifts the mood and the ‘barrel drum’ seats make if feel like you could be in the deep south.
The menu, as expected is full of delicious sounding, mouth-watering burgers, which means making a decision a little difficult. From the simple ‘Quickie’ to loaded original flavours such as the ‘Louisianna’ – a burger with hickory smoked bacon, crunchy peanut butter and smoked Applewood cheese and the ‘Sloppy Joe’ which is loaded with beef chilli and Monterey Jack.
But for ultimate comfort burger, the Mac Daddy is the ‘daddy’ of all burgers. A Perfectly cooked burger, still just slightly pink in the middle which melts in the mouth with a generous helping of rich Mac n Cheese, topped with crispy opinion bites, all in the middle of a soft brioche bun.
The Piggy Bun, was as the menu described “oinkingly” good with fresh purple slaw perfectly complimenting the sweet smokey BBQ pulled pork. And for further contentment, crispy sweet potato fries on the side which are a tasty change to standard fries.
Service was prompt, friendly and helpful – especially when stuck on which burger to enjoy. All that was needed was a cosy corner to snooze into after a belly full of delicious contentment.
