Located in the new development at WestQuay South in Southampton, L’Osteria is one of the new restaurants to open their doors! L’Osteria is famous for the best, best pizza and pasta d’amore.

places to eat southamptonOnce you walk through the doors at L’Osteria, you feel like you’re in the beautiful country of Italy! It has a lively atmosphere with a sophisticated feel and there is a constant delicious smell of authentic Italian cuisine floating around in the air. With settling sounds being played in the background – you cannot help but feel like you are a million miles away from home.

The restaurant is split into two areas – one that is open and spacious and the other that has a more cosy and homely feel to it. As you are walking past the open kitchen where you can see all the chef’s hard at work and your 18″ (yes, a whopping 18″ that is larger than the plate they bring it out on!) pizza being tossed in the air you arrive in the more cosy and secluded part of the restaurant – where sofa’s and cushions welcome you. They even have a colouring station and benches for children to get creative! L’Osteria allows you and those that you are with to be themselves and feel at home.

As you walk upstairs you are greeted with high ceilings and gorgeous bay windows allowing you to see the stunning Town Walls that surround Southampton. There is also the option to dine and drink outside as they have a beautiful balcony with pillow-filled benches and tables (plus a snugg-able blanket for those who get cold!).

If you are heading to L’Osteria with a large group of people or you are wanting a little more privacy, they have a gorgeous function room that can be closed off as and when you wish – allowing you to still enjoy the experience on offer but still having the privacy, as if the restaurant was all to yourself!

Now… to the food! Where to start… the menuplaces to eat southampton is large and the hardest part is whittling it down! Their pizza comes from the stone oven, meaning it is crispy-thin and big enough that the edge sticks out over the side of the plate or you have the Pasta d’amore dishes that come fresh from their
in-house pasta factory, or youcould also try some tasty antipasti, insalata and dolci. L’Osteria only use high-quality ingredients and a lot of them are imported weekly directly from Italy!

If you decide to tackle the 18″ pizza by yourself, or as a sharing main course and you can’t quite finish – do not worry! They will pack the rest up for you – all of their dishes are available to take away. The recipe for their pizza dough is a closely guarded secret which they have passed on from one pizza chef, or ‘pizzaiolo’, to the next since 1999.

As you sit back and relax whilst your food is being lovingly prepared, you cannot help but to look around and take in the true beauty of the restaurant and the interior. As you look around, you will see the Bar area where you can see cocktails being shaken and drinks being prepared – all being done with a smile!

The hardest part is when you leave (mainly because you have eaten s much you cannot move!) because you really do feel a million miles away from everyday life.

Bellissimo L’Osteria!  The Southampton Guide will most definitely be back! To find out more or to book a reservation please do visit their website here.
