Nuffield Southampton Theatres (NST) will celebrated today the first birthday of its city centre theatre, NST City, with a giant community birthday party.

The First Birthday Party was attended by over 500 people from communities across Southampton. Party goers took part in large scale party games including pass the parcel. There was also behind the scenes tours of the theatre and a live dance performance created by NST’s resident dance theatre company ZoieLogic Dance Theatre.

The party was for and by the people of Southampton,

Sam Hodges, Director of Nuffield Southampton Theatres said, “It was extremely gratifying that today’s 1st birthday party embodied what this theatre exists for. On the one hand, it was hosted and designed by the brilliant ZoieLogic dance company, a local dance company properly embedded in the city who are resident with us. On the other hand, the party was for and by the people of Southampton, with local choirs, dancers, and residents joining in the fun. Bring on the next year’.

NST City opened officially on 16 February 2018 and has welcomed over 62000 people through its doors since opening and has launched four world premieres including the critically acclaimed SS Mendi Dancing the Death Drill and Billionaire Boy The Musical.  The venue includes a flexible 450 seat main house theatre, a 133 seat studio, screening facilities, rehearsal and workshop spaces and café bar.  NST runs NST City alongside its theatre, NST Campus, on the University of Southampton’s Highfield Campus.
