One lucky Sotonian to win £3,000 flight as Solent Sky Museum launches Spitfire Legend prize draw

This summer, one lucky Sotonian will experience the thrill of a lifetime as they take off in a Spitfire courtesy of Solent Sky Museum and Southampton Airport.
Solent Sky, which believes the Spitfire’s heritage belongs to every resident of the city, is leading this three-way initiative including Biggin Hill Heritage Hangar and Southampton International Airport. The prize is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to be part of the Spitfire Legend.
To qualify for entry, participants must be over 18 years old, reside in a ‘SO’ postcode and complete their entry form at Solent Sky. There are restrictions associated with flying in a Spitfire; details of which can be found at
The prize draw will be held on 1 April 2019 at Solent Sky Museum. Details regarding the date of the flight itself will be communicated in due course, but this is likely to occur during the summer months.
Alan Jones, Director of the independent Solent Sky Museum stated “I really do believe that the legacy of the great aircraft, the Spitfire, belongs to the city of Southampton and its people. That is why we are very keen to promote this free draw for the amazing prize of a flight in this legendary aircraft, for one of Southampton’s residents.”
