Kick start your day If you have a busy day of shopping ahead you’ll need to start your day with a hearty breakfast and a decent coffee. Head down to the area of Ocean Village where you’ll have a choice of great breakfast venues. Banana Wharf in Ocean Village serves breakfast until 11.30am, with a choice of full English, salmon on toast, fruit platter, and a buffet breakfast available at weekends. For a great coffee head to No. 4 on Canute Road, they also offer breakfast and brunch to get you going!

Let the shopping commence! After a scrummy start to the day you can begin your shopping experience up through the centre of the city. From Ocean Village head past Oxford Street and find yourself in East Street. You’ll find a selection of independent shops and a large Debenhams department store here to keep you busy for a couple of hours. If you’re a gamer, comic book and Sci-fi fan then you’ll definitely want to stop at Forbidden Planet in Hannover Buildings as you head up towards the city centre. If you’re passing on a Friday or Saturday you’ll find the Bargate Markets open for business next to the Bargate monument. With a huge range of stalls set up with seasonal goodies there’s plenty to see and buy. The centre of the city is home to West Quay Shopping Centre and popular High Street shops such as Boots, Primark and River Island. West Quay is full of over 100 stylish shops under one roof, you could certainly lose a few hours in there! Shops include the Apple Store, H&M, Waterstones and John Lewis.

A spot of lunch By now you’re probably starting to feel a bit peckish! West Quays food court is great for a selection of food venues to suit all tastes. You can even get your food from different venues then meet in the middle to enjoy your lunch together!

A lunch time tipple You might also decide after a busy morning that you deserve a well earned drink with your lunch, or want a break and to relax for a few moments. The High Street offers several options for this as you head up town from West Quay. If you want a real treat for lunch head to Above Bar Street where you’ll find The Stable – award winning pizza, pies and cider.

Shop until you drop! Now you’re in the area you can head to the Marlands Shopping Centre to continue your shopping. The Marlands is home to over 40 specialist boutiques, shops, restaurants and cafes. This includes the Disney Store, The Market Gallery and Whittards.

Ready to drop… After a full day of shopping your evening needs to be more relaxed. Southampton is home to plenty of evening entertainment options! If you want food, entertainment and having to do very little else after your active day then head to The Stage Door, open from midday until late every day it’s the perfect spot to wind up your day.
