Looking in from the cold British weather outside, you are welcomed by a warm and friendly taste of summer on the inside. Sit back and enjoy the atmospheric candlelit setting, accompanied by he chilled out sounds of greek music in the background and authentic Greek decor. The restaurant creates a great ‘buzz’ that transports you to the streets of Greece, with its white-stone buildings and fresh sunny settings
Offering plenty of tables yet allowing space that radiates a fresh and open feel whilst dining, there’s also a cosy waiting area with sofas and chairs allowing you to wait comfortably for a table should there be a wait. The restaurant offers a huge bar for enjoying drinks and snacks, and an open kitchen allowing you to enjoy watching your food being prepared.
There is so much choice and variety on the menu, the friendly staff will help you decide if you are unsure (hint: the cold Meze comes first and then the hot!). Food is served quickly but not so fast that you feel rushed. It is recommended that you go for 3-4 Meze dishes per person, or if you like to share you can go for the sharing platters that start at £32.50 for two of you.
Dishes are served on tiered platters (there is an afternoon tea sort of feel to the delivery of the dishes!), this adds a quirky element to enjoying your dishes on every level, it also prevents that awkward moment of not knowing where to place all the food you have ordered!
The food itself is full of colour and aromas, with fresh flavours and authentic tastes, it really is sunshine on a plate! Finish off with a mouth watering dessert and we guarantee you will leave feeling full. The Meze style of small plates can mislead you to thinking you’re not eating quite as much as you are! There is an outside dining area decorated with heat lamps – this will be so so lovely in the summer and with alfresco dining.
Overall The Real Greek in Southampton gives you a fully immersive dining experience and an authentic taste of Greek – well, the clue is in the name!
