tAs if The New Forest wasn’t picturesque enough, they really hit the nail on the head with¬†Exbury Gardens and Steam Railway. These stunning gardens make for a great day out, and it will take you a day to explore! You can even take your favourite furry friend to this dog friendly attraction.

As you enter the gardens you are given a map of the grounds and there are plenty of sign posts all around the tracks and trails. Just head off and start exploring! You’ll be blown away by the beauty of the grounds.

With various features such as the Doomsday Tree, the Sundial Gardens, the view point looking out onto Beaulieu River and the numerous ponds filled with huge carp, there is plenty to keep going.

When your legs get tired it’s time for the train! Tickets bought on entry to the gardens you can ride the rails to explore parts of the gardens not accessible on foot. Of course there’s that great smell of the steam from the train which gives a great all round experience.

When you are ready for some refreshments Mr Eddy’s restaurant¬†provides hot meals, sandwiches, cakes and drinks. Being a dog friendly attraction there’s even special doggy ice cream for your four legged friend to enjoy! If you decide to take your own picnic there are plenty of great spots to settle down for some lunch.

The beauty of Exbury Gardens is its shear size. Even with a brimming car park you will often feel you are the only one’s there as there is so much to explore.

A wonderful day out for the whole family. Just be prepared for a fair bit of walking, although you can break this up with stops and breaks.
