A number of restaurants and bars also host live music nights including the White Star Tavern, the London Hotel, Simons at Oxfords and Grand Café on Oxford Street. Oxford Street is also a great place to enjoy a trendy evening out on the town with many of the restaurants and bars holding live music nights.
If it is a few evening drinks you’re after, as well as the high street chains, Southampton has some great individual pubs where you can sup on a beer or enjoy a glass of wine. Soak up some history into the bargain at the historic Duke of Wellington pub in Bugle Street or step onto the High Street and check out the Red Lion pub, which dates back to 1148.

Mettricks Guildhall serves various local ales including Dancing Man beers – as well as premium crafted cocktails. Close by at Town Quay is the Platform Tavern where they brew their own beer as well as other well known beers and they are famous for their Desperate Dan style pies.
The Dancing Man Brewery, Southampton’s one and only award winning microbrewery and Brew House is a great meeting place for international beer lovers whether on a cruise, a student or a pirate! The Rockstone in Bevois Valley has built a reputation for being a cool haunt with a wide selection of Cask Beer and Ales, they also mix a great cocktail too!
Unity Brewing Co. is a brewery based in Portswood, Southampton. It produces a range of Belgian-inspired beers and also has a taproom open on Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays where visitors can sample the beers, or buy some to take away.
